Yet again the most complete free to use open source and our favorite media player cum suit has upgraded its version to 2.0.6 a.k.a "Twoflower" with some impressive change and fixes. What is VLC media player? "VLC media player (informally just VLC) is a highly portable free and open-source cross-platform media player and streaming media server written by the VideoLAN project" (from Wikipedia)

VLC has been for years one the most commonly used media player and suit. The versatility of this open source application and contnous development gave it always an edge over any other similar application in competition. The ability to run almost any media file, i.e. almost all common formats of audio or video files along with the ability to be configured into a media suit are something really commendable. The features like ability to take screenshots, read directly from CD or DVD, inclusion of web browser plugins to ensure that no parallel media player needed for that purpose, ability to stream directly from a link are some of the other among its great list of conveniences. It is not a surprise that even after officially released as version 1.0.0 in 2009 and then version 2.0.0 only in February 18, 2012 VLC is first in the overall download count and has been downloaded more than 1 billion times!
