Evoland - a 8bit to 16bit gaming journey!

Evoland is the game to remind everyone how the games itself got evolved in front of our very eyes to the point of becoming a daily chore. This game with all its witty touches gives every gamer the pleasantry of why everyone keeps loving to remember how the games were like when anyone started playing & how they have become in this age!

Publisher: Shiro Games
Developer: Shiro Games
Genre: Adventure

Shiro Games brought this game into the PC platform only few days ago. But the browser & free version is not so new & still can be played at original classic version link.

There are many attempts to be comical in the videogame industry, most of which fall into the crude category of cheap giggles over gameplay. Evoland however places its plentiful supply of in-game jokes as its core subject matter and builds a familiar gameplay experience around it. When someone first start playing Evoland, it doesn't look all that impressive. The pixelated screen with limited possibility to maneuver & a lack of sound makes you think either of those good old Gameboy console or a petty joke of a game in case if you are not familiar with older version of the games. It lets you journey through the gameplay gaining improvements & unlocking the newer features which are usual with a game now-a-days.

Game Trailer:

It is a nice try to punch the essences of the games we came through & nostalgic about. As nothing can be good enough we who play too many games may find flaws in this game too. Among many the end level gameplay don't provide the graphical quality that one may expect in a new game. Nevertheless those factors doesn't make the game any less honorable in a try to do the justice to the theme it tried to base on. Let's see what they are saying at the main site about the game. For fans of the adventure and RPG genres, Evoland is a near-essential to cheout. From The Legend of Zelda to Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana to Breath of Fire and everything in between, Evoland lovingly references each and every one of the landmark titles offered since the 16-bit era in at least some small way. While none of the component parts of Evoland are as good as the games they come from, the whole is a fascinating study of the adventure game genre, and surprisingly funny at the same time.

Evoland is a game and a story. The story of action adventure gaming as seen in the Zelda or Final Fantasy series, starting with the early age of action RPGs, when a few pixels were enough to make us dream for hours. New players will discover a bit of video game history and a very fun gameplay, and veterans will also enjoy a host of references to legendary titles scattered along the game.
Evoland Classic was originally created by Nicolas Cannasse for a Ludum Dare competition in about 30 hours. Turns out the game won the first place (out of around 1400 games) and quickly reached over 300 000 players within a couple of months.
With such a great feedback from our community and given our love for the original concept, we decided that Shiro Games should work on a bigger and more refined version of the game.

The game will enhance and continue the story started in Evoland Classic, taking you further along the history of action adventure gaming, adding collectible items, new monsters and bosses, and more importantly new play styles and full 3D environements!
Evoland is available on this website, Steam and Good Old Games starting from the 4th of April 2013.
